The Situation
In response to an increasingly complex operating environment, a leading global investment bank wanted to build a new risk management data aggregation process and supporting systems. Data was located in numerous inventories and assessment systems across a truly global enterprise, and there were communication gaps between various teams and divisions. Moreover, there was an underlying need to transform technology risk management into a more structured discipline.
The Satori Solution
Our first step was to develop a communications program that would keep stakeholders informed throughout the project with regular status meetings and reports. Partnering with a client team, we collected and consolidated data into accessible, customizable, and actionable information for a wide variety of audiences. Next, we gathered business and system requirements and translated them into a Systems Architecture that included functional, information, and integration blueprints. We developed an automated assessment process to evaluate the risk of applications, bringing greater transparency to the process. Finally, we drafted the initial content for the information technology controls library, providing common content for all technology teams as they developed new policies and procedures.
The Results
The engagement brought more consistency to our client's data aggregation and assessment processes. It also enhanced communication and collaboration between technology teams and divisions, resulting in a stronger, more proactive approach to technology risk management.
