Improving performance and talent management

We introduced structure and oversight to our client’s talent management programs, allowing it to link training to necessary skills and long-term strategy.

The Situation
A leading pharmaceutical data analytics and consulting firm required assistance to address a range of challenges related to talent management. A strategy of growth through acquisition resulted in unfulfilled performance expectations for key roles in consulting, services, sales, marketing and core data analytics groups. Furthermore, Practice Area and regional differences were limiting the ability of employees to work smoothly as a team and to create and deliver fully-integrated solutions.

The Satori Solution
Our first step was to launch a new Organizational Development group that would oversee performance and talent management on a global level. We created a charter and a three-year journey map to guide the group’s investments. Next, we led and managed Competency Model development projects for six functional areas, which gave each employee a clear line of sight to performance expectations. The projects involved defining core functional competencies and capabilities, contribution standards, and career progression mappings. Finally, we established a new Career Management Framework, which included functional curricula, leadership and professional development programs, and refined recruiting activities, as a foundation for other strategic efforts in the talent management space.

The Results
The engagement established a foundation for annual goal planning and tracking, which ultimately made performance more consistent throughout the firm.
