Managing the procurement life cycle for a major ERP selection

We managed the complete procurement life cycle for the selection of an Enterprise Resource Planning solution in order to modernize a core function of a top-ranked college.

The Situation

During a strategic planning initiative, a top-ranked college applied new guiding principles to its internal processes and systems. After conducting their internal assessment, they found their information technology systems supporting all administrative functions to be inadequate and stood to remain a roadblock to implementing change across the college. Having concluded that these systems were beyond repair, the Information Technology (IT) department undertook what turns out to be the largest project of this type in the history of the college: replacing the Financial, Human Resources, and Student Information Systems with packaged Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software.

The Results

We were able to manage a successful procurement exercise that helped the client avoid common pitfalls and identify the optimal provider in a setting where best price was not necessarily the best solution. By applying an extensive experience base in ERP selection and implementation, we were able to achieve best-case results in all negotiation categories.
