Supporting training and communications in technology risk
Our revised training and communications program helped our client make better use of existing materials and delivery channels, helping employees understand their part in mitigating technology risk.
The Situation
A leading global investment bank needed to improve its training and communications program for information security and technology-related risks. Viruses, phishing attacks, and data breaches place banks at risk for potential regulatory fines, loss of customer confidence, and reputational damage. Our client recognized that training employees to recognize and respond to risk would add a layer of defense beyond what systems could provide; however, the training and communications lacked a strategic, proactive approach.
The Satori Solution
We assessed the existing training program and communication vehicles, reviewed the risk policies and standards the program was based upon, and took an inventory of delivery channels. Using this information, we created a new communications matrix that identified stakeholders and target audiences, detailed key messages, and indicated their proper frequency of delivery. We also developed a learning network of individuals from various divisions who were delivering training and communications on similar topics. The learning network allowed divisions to collaboratively identify technology risks, which were then used as the basis for new messaging.
The Results
We helped our client evolve from a reactive to a proactive approach to communicating with employees about technology risk. The revised training and communications program provided context and language that businesses could relate to and act upon, successfully building education and awareness of information security risks.
