Testing emergency response capabilities
We assessed governance policies and performed a Command Center drill for our client’s emergency response capabilities, building awareness around resiliency and preparing the organization to respond to business disruptions.
The Situation
An industry-leading financial services provider had assessed the viability of its Business Continuity Planning (BCP) program and had uncovered critical deficiencies. The client’s existing governance structure lacked clearly-defined roles, responsibilities, and chains of authority, specifically in relation to its command center and emergency response teams. Additionally, the client needed to elevate awareness of its BCP function throughout the organization to ensure optimal performance during times of crisis.
The Satori Solution
We outlined a new approach that would deliver immediate business value. Our first step was to analyze the existing business continuity governance structure, introducing refinements and streamlining by delineating roles and responsibilities.
Next, as part of an approach to establish ongoing BCP assessment and testing, we facilitated a business continuity drill with the firm’s senior leadership that revealed how much work needed to be done to develop effective command, control and response capabilities. The drill revealed a number of positive aspects of the client’s programs, but also uncovered critical gaps in command, control, and response capabilities. We used this information to develop an action plan with recommendations for mitigating each deficiency.
The Results
We positioned the client to establish a corporate awareness campaign around business resiliency and to develop a business-driven, process-focused recovery strategy.
