Validating a records and retention program

We helped our client achieve consistent compliance with regulatory guidelines by centralizing its record-keeping and improving its retention of documents.

The Situation

In order to ensure compliance with new global regulations, the Compliance division of a major investment bank decided to undertake a strategic program to centralize the management and retention of its records. A key objective was to create a strong yet flexible framework that could adapt to changes in the business and regulatory landscape. While the firm had already established a best-in-class records retention methodology, it needed to refine and implement the model.

Satori consultants helped the client design a structure for collecting regulatory and legal requirements. We determined how long records needed to be held and in what form they should be stored. We also established how quickly records needed to be retrieved in the event of an inquiry or audit. The resulting rules database also allowed for the flexible addition of new rules while keeping existing rules current. Furthermore, Satori was instrumental in helping the client meet its aggressive timeline for the initiative. Over one hundred operational systems built automated processes to feed records into the central repository in less than six months.
