Changing Culture and Improving Processes Through Compliance

Summary

We designed and implemented a full-scale change management plan for a technology organization in order to increase the strategic focus on risk management, accelerate ongoing process and technology improvements and ensure Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance.

Situation

An industry-leading mutual insurance company was undergoing a major SOX compliance initiative. Key personnel had minimal awareness of risks and controls associated with SOX. Additionally, the organization did not prioritize communication and training or manage cultural and organizational change effectively. Senior management also needed to refine the organizational model and facilitate a transformation through a balanced approach focused on process, risk management, and controls accountability.

Satori Solution

We assembled all stakeholder groups to quickly gain an understanding of organizational, process, and culture impacts of the proposed change. We then generated a deployment plan and obtained buy-in from all user groups and created a communication plan tailored to the various client profiles. Through a series of targeted messages and contextualizing workshops, we raised awareness of the upcoming changes and educated and enabled all key participants.

We worked with senior management to refine their priorities and generate performance metrics to track the success of current and future initiatives. To ensure ongoing success, we created a cross-functional group to monitor and drive improvements to current and future processes and controls.

Results

By designing and deploying a comprehensive change management effort, we ensured the success of various SOX-compliant initiatives, enabled the client to handle organization-wide change, and charted a path towards successful future initiatives.
