Developing a Curriculum and Certification Program

Summary

We strengthened our client’s existing training program to match a global competency model and the needs of employees. Our additions to the program improved performance and enhanced our client’s standing within its industry.

Situation

The Consulting & Services division of a major healthcare industry data analytics firm realized that its training investments were not achieving targeted participation or benefits. Content had become outdated, there was a lack of awareness of the breadth of course offerings, and employees felt that coursework did not match their needs. Furthermore, a lack of clear development pathways had begun to impact retention and to weaken competitiveness with other consultancies in the industry.

Satori Solution

We gathered information and materials from over 400 courses and mapped their learning objectives to targeted behaviors derived from the group’s competency model. We then interviewed subject-matter experts to create needs assessment surveys, which we distributed worldwide. We analyzed the feedback to identify areas in which the curriculum could be improved. For areas with insufficient course content, we recommended enhancements to existing courses or designed new courses to close the gaps. We also led the creation of an internal certification program that would clarify employee development paths, using careful benchmarking against our client’s key competitors as a guide.

Results

Our comprehensive new training framework helped the client increase its return on training investments by improving performance and retention. The program has also re-engaged employees in training, created a more consistent corporate culture, and improved opportunities for career development.
